I wanted to share some summer book recommendations with you!
Last year I started a book club with friends in Florence – these books were either on our reading list or recommended by friends.
To make the list below I had to read and love them.
COMING IN HOT FOR SUMMER!
Remember Love, written by Cleo Wade.
I first came across Cleo’s work last year by accident. Her book was sitting by the pool at a fantastic, new spa I was visiting called Southall in Franklin, TN. The book was called Heart Talk. I read the book cover to cover that day by the pool and it touched my soul. Remember Love, Cleo’s new book, did the same. She is just a beautiful writer and has a very unique way of touching you where it matters – in the heart. I have given Remember Love out as a gift to many of my female friends, but guys, you should read this too! It’s the perfect summer book to gift.
Protect Your Peace, written by Trent Shelton.
Wow, Protect Your Peace is just phenomenal. I have read hundreds of self-help books and this is one of the best I have read in over ten years. Trent Shelton is simply wise beyond his years. I read this book ten pages a day, while I did (and successfully completed) a workout and discipline program called 75 Hard. The program requires you to read ten pages a day. I normally read books in a few days, however, reading this book slowly was such a blessing as I really took it in. We are living, arguably, through some unprecedented times right now. The media, our phones, and the world are not designed to protect our peace. Trent’s book is not just a reminder of how important it is to protect our peace, but a true road map on how to do it. I truly can’t recommend this book enough.
One Italian Summer, written by Rebecca Serle.
This is a true beach read. I loved this book because it brought me back to so many of my special memories in one of my favorite places on earth, Positano, Italy. I’m not exactly sure how to explain this book. It’s a mother-daughter love story to start, with a reminder that it is never too late to start over. It’s just a super enjoyable fantasy read. The funny thing about this book is I came across it at a bookstore in Chicago. I bought it, then realized I read another book by Rebecca a few years ago in Hawaii and I actually posted about it – it was her last bestseller, In Five Years (which I loved too). They are both great summer vacation reads.
Building Your Money Machine, by Mel Abraham.
This book just came out. I read a preview of it last year when my buddy Mel asked me to review and consider a testimonial which I happily gave him. Mel has a heart of gold and truly cares about teaching people how to use their money to have their best life. Mel was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and didn’t just survive it, he thrived out of it and leaned into his life’s purpose with this book to help more people. The subtitle to Building Your Money Machine is “How To Get Your Money To Work Harder For You Than You Did For It” and this book can help you do just that. Mel is a very special person, whom I am grateful to call a friend. He is also the kind of guy who would never ask me to write a promotion for him like this (which is why it is such a joy to do it).
Living Untethered, by Michael Singer.
I have read everything from Michael Singer and, by far, this book is my favorite – and I think the one to start with. Here is a quote from the book that was highlighted by over 3,000 Kindle Readers (including me), “People are trying to use the outside to fix the inside – better to find out why it’s not nice inside to begin with.” That sentence coming without context may not hit you, but when you read this book it’s like getting zapped with a high-voltage electric love beam. Michael is an internationally celebrated, loved and renowned meditation teacher. This beautiful book really helps explain the entire point of meditation, which is something I have now been doing almost daily since 2012. I read this book twice in the last two months and I will read it again, because it’s that good and important.
NEVER STOP GROWING & NEVER STOP READING
I read a few books a month. This list is a bit all over the place because my interests and passions are probably like yours, all over the place.
Come summer I will read mostly fiction. In fact I just started another John Grisham book called The Judge’s List. I truly love Grisham and always have. The moment I open one of his books in actual hardcover & start reading it I instantly feel like I am on vacation.
And with that, I am off to pack for a summer of trips and travel with family and friends.
I will probably post a bit on IG and Facebook – if you want to stay in touch visit me over there.
Until I post again, happy reading!
