Yesterday I was a bit down, candidly dragging a bit.
Today I got this email, which helped a lot…
Dear David,
On New Year’s Eve, I woke up a millionaire, and I owe much of that to the lessons I learned from you years ago and I wanted to say thank you.
I sit down twice a year, usually on New Year’s Eve and the 4th of July, to update my net worth statement. And while I thought I was getting close, last week confirmed something that would have sounded impossible to my 25-year-old self – over a million in net worth.
I was given a copy of The Automatic Millionaire at 25 as a young professional, and it changed the trajectory of my financial life. Over time, I formed an emergency fund, got out of debt, and started saving for retirement. While I had a couple of moments of drifting off course, I have largely stuck with those foundation principles for 24 years, and felt a great deal of personal pride at seeing that number a few days ago.
Today, I’m 49, have advanced in my career in education, and live contentedly and fortunately with my wife and 6-year-old in North Carolina. I have you to thank for what I have learned from your books, articles and more for that foundation. I’ve been lucky, no doubt, and have tried to work hard and save smart while also enjoying life. My goal is to stay on the path, keep building for retirement and the future. I’ve also shared your wisdom with students, co-workers and others. I’ve given away a number of copies of The Automatic Millionaire in hopes it will spark others in the way it sparked me long ago. I’m also thinking about starting a small business as another revenue stream to help us meet our long-term goals.
Later this year, when my daughter turns 7, I plan to take her to Starbucks (no offense to the Latte Factor, but it’s one of her favorite stops) and begin laying the foundation you’ve discussed your grandmother providing for you, explaining that people can purchase from Starbucks, work at Starbucks, or own Starbucks. I hope to build those same principles of financial freedom for her at an early age.
Truly, thank you. Reading The Automatic Millionaire is one of the most impactful and influential actions I’ve ever taken, and I will always appreciate you for educating me.
Should you ever need a partner or team member to help spread the wisdom of The Automatic Millionaire, I’d be happy to be a part. I often think about how to help more people implement these ideas so they can see that net worth sheet of their own one day.
Thank you,
Brian G
The updated edition of THE AUTOMATIC MILLIONAIRE is loaded with stories like these.
Please, when you’re on Amazon, make sure you get the updated edition in hardcover.
Unfortunately, the paperback from 2016 is still available and many are purchasing it by mistake.
It’s so frustrating for me, you have no idea (we have been trying to address this issue with the publisher for over a year).
Go make this the year you make your finances automatic.
