Coming in hot again for summer.
I received so much amazing feedback on my last blog post so I decided to add to it for you.
6 MORE BOOKS FOR SUMMER READING AND LISTENING
Let’s start with a great NEW book on audio!
THE AUTOMATIC MILLIONAIRE UPDATED FOR 2024!
THE AUTOMATIC MILLIONAIRE IS BACK AND BETTER!
The Automatic Millionaire (written by yours truly and now narrated), as promised, has been completely updated and revised for 2024. Over the past twenty years, this has been my most popular book with nearly 2 million copies sold around the world.
I painstakingly updated it and re-recorded the entire audio in a studio in Florence, Italy.
If you have ever wanted a quick financial kick in the butt, along with a financial cheerleader, this is your book. The Automatic Millionaire will teach you how to put your entire financial life on autopilot in less than an hour. I originally launched this book over twenty years ago on “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. It became a #1 New York Times bestseller, spending 31 weeks on the NYT bestselling list, as well as an international bestseller.
The amount of people this book has helped continues to blow me away. I hope it has helped you and I hope it can now help your kids.
Throw the audio on this summer with the kids in the car and get them started young. We hope to have the updated book out in 2025 and will keep you posted on when that happens. Until then, enjoy the audio.
This was a quote from a recent reader that I saw on social media.
“Reading this book is one of the best decisions I have made in my entire life. Thank you for writing something so easy to read and understand.” – Claire R.
THANK YOU, CLAIRE, and thank you to everyone who took the time last month to send me your success stories.
If you’ve read the book, leave a comment on my Instagram & Facebook! I truly love to hear from you how my books have helped you.
Hit reply and share with me. I would love to include some new success stories in the updated edition in 2025 (maybe your story can be in the update if you allow us to share your success).
NEVER FINISHED, written by David Goggins
My first recommendation today, after my book, is David Goggins’s Never Finished. A massive bestseller, I read the book and listened to the audio. This book on audio blew me away and reset my mindset. It was the kick in the pants I needed during a very difficult time in my life last January after I tore my rotator cuff and had to have an emergency surgery (following my ankle surgery). Goggins has become a legend in the personal development space. I also got my younger son, James, to read this book and it completely changed his outlook on discipline and life. Books really can change your life and this one changed ours. David Goggins, you don’t know me but I am a huge fan! Staying hard (once you read the book that will make sense to you). If you’re looking to end your year strong, this book will help you do just that!
BE USESFUL, written by Arnold Schwarzenegger
This book is by Arnold Schwarzenegger and I also read and listened to it. I recommend you listen to it. Everyone in my book group came away inspired, motivated and surprised by how great it was. Arnold does the audio and you really feel like he’s hanging out with you reading it. I didn’t expect this book to be as good as it was. In truth, I was a bit skeptical and then I listened to an interview he did and thought, “let’s try it”. There are so many life lessons in this book and it is also good for kids. I had James read this book too and it blew him away. Aside from all of Arnold’s stories, there are real lessons on how to live a powerful and meaningful life of impact and service. It’s a fast read and listen. It will inspire you to never give up and that anything is possible.
FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH, written by Arthur Brooks
This book comes in hot from Arthur Brooks. This book was huge last year. So popular that it got Oprah’s attention and then they co-authored a book together called Build The Life You Want. This book really takes a look at how our lives change in our 50’s which we hope is midlife. My book group read it and thought it was phenomenal. Interestingly, I wish I had read this book in my 30’s or my 40’s because it really explains a lot of what happens to us – our energy, emotions and drive as we age. It lays out the “why” behind the second half of our lives, and suggests the reasons and ways the second half of our life can be our best half. Without question, it’s worth a read.
LEARNING TO LOVE MIDLIFE, written by Chip Conley
About halfway through Arthur’s book I started thinking, “this sounds a lot like Chip Conley’s work”. Right as I am thinking that, Arthur turns around and mentions Chip’s program called the Modern Elder Academy. The real how-to advice in Arthur’s book comes from Chip’s program, which he credits. For the how-to guide on how to embrace midlife as a time of transformation and joy, I suggest you read Chip’s book. Chip lays out why life gets better with age. I am obsessed with this concept as I do my utmost to enjoy this part of my life to its fullest, even with the challenges it presents. I wish I had a book like this in my 40’s. There really is a road map that can help us all approach life as we get older. This little book has lovely tools to help us open our minds and souls to reimagine what is possible. Honestly, this book may be good for you even if you are under 40.
THE JUDGE’S LIST, written by John Grisham
This book was my first beach read of summer in Antiparos, Greece. I could not put this book down. The main character is Lacy Stoltz, an investigator who ends up following the trial of a corrupt judge. The book has so many twists and turns and involves a serial killer. I don’t want to give the story away. It’s been a while since I have read a John Grisham novel and this was like returning to an old friend and catching up. If you like Grisham, you will love this book. You can read more about the book here.
THE QUANTS, written by Scott Patterson
Finishing this list is a book from 2010 that I ended up pulling off my dad’s bookshelf. Ironically, I gave him this book as a gift and he never read it. I am only 100 pages into it (it’s somewhat heavy reading) and it is so interesting. It’s a book about, as Patterson puts it, the new breed of math whizzes that almost conquered Wall Street and then nearly destroyed It. This book reminded me of reading books like Liar’s Poker by Michael Lewis, and Barbarians at The Gate by Bryan Burrough and John Helyar. Those were two books I read & loved when I was right out of college. I plan to finish this book this month and then get back to a novel.
PODCAST RECOMMENDATION!
Finally, I thought I would share one of my favorite podcasts from the past couple of years, it’s called, THE ALL IN PODCAST. The hosts are besties (as they refer to themselves), Chamath, David, David and Jason, are four incredibly successful entrepreneurs, poker players and best friends who started hanging out on Zoom in 2020 and decided to turn their conversations into a podcast. It is now one of the most popular podcasts in the world. It covers business, politics, investing & futurist issues as well as interviews some fantastic guests. This September they are hosting the ALL IN SUMMIT in LA. I will be there and if you, by some chance, are attending let me know. The last few podcast episodes have been very political as you can imagine. Normally, the episodes are more about business and investing. I always come away having learned something new and think you will too.
MOVIE RECOMMENDATION
Last but not least, is “The Source” by Joe Dispenza. This documentary just came out and you can download it online. I watched this film over the weekend. It was phenomenal. I went to four weeks of Dr. Joe retreats last year and they changed my life. The documentary goes into the transformational research UCSD is doing at these events to measure how mediation can help heal our bodies. I can attest to seeing the miracles and living them. I have been doing Dr. Joe’s work and meditations for the last year and a half and it has been life-changing. I will also be at his event in August in Dallas. If you are there come say, “hi”.
My buddy, Lewis Howes, who also has one of the greatest podcasts out there, just did a new two-hour episode with Dr. Joe. The interviews they have done together have been downloaded over 50 million times. This new one is brilliant – listen to it here!
ONE LAST RECOMMENDATION
And while you are listening to Lewis’ podcasts, here is the one we did together. I am a bit biased, but I truly loved this interview. Lewis is just awesome and the content is timeless and valuable. It can help you live your richest life now. Listen to it on Spotify here! Or watch below.
